Privacy Policy

Termly ("the Extension," "we," "us") is a browser extension that helps users understand the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy of websites they visit, before they agree to them. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension accesses, how it is used, and what is never collected.

1. What We Access

When you click "Check This Page," the Extension scans the current, active tab only for links to Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, or similar legal pages. It then fetches the publicly available text of those linked pages.

The Extension only reads:

• Publicly available Terms of Service and Privacy Policy text from the website you are currently visiting.
• The domain name of the site you are checking (e.g., "example.com"), used only to cache results and avoid re-analyzing the same policy repeatedly.

2. What We Do NOT Collect

The Extension does not collect, read, store, or transmit:

• Your name, email address, or any account information.
• Passwords, form inputs, or anything you type.
• Your browsing history across other tabs or sites.
• Cookies, session tokens, or authentication data.
• Any personally identifiable information about you.

The Extension only activates when you manually click "Check This Page." It does not run in the background, does not track your browsing, and does not monitor pages you have not explicitly asked it to check.

3. How the Analyzed Text Is Processed

The publicly available policy text is sent, via a secure server we control, to a third-party AI service (Google's Gemini API) for analysis. This text is:

• Limited to the Terms of Service / Privacy Policy content itself — never anything about you personally.
• Used solely to generate a safety score and a short summary for your review.
• Not used to build a profile of you, and not linked to your identity in any way, since no personal identifiers are ever sent.

We do not control how Google's Gemini API itself retains or processes data submitted to it; please refer to Google's own AI/API data policies for details on their handling of submitted content.

4. Local Storage and Caching

To avoid repeatedly analyzing the same website, the Extension stores a small cache locally on your device (via your browser's built-in storage), containing:

• The domain name checked
• The safety score and summary generated
• A timestamp

This cached data stays on your own device. It is not uploaded to us, sold, or shared with any third party. You can clear this cache at any time by removing the Extension or clearing your browser's extension storage.

5. No Data Is Sold or Shared

We do not sell, rent, or share any data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing purposes. There are no ads in this Extension.

6. Children's Privacy

This Extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
